The Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, has installed lawyer Adewunmi Ogunsanya as Odofin of Remoland. The ceremony took place at the monarch’s palace in Sagamu, Ogun State, on Thursday, 22 October.
Remo TV reported that the Akarigbo conferred the title on Ogunsanya, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who already holds the Odofin title in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The broadcaster also identified the new title as Odofin of Offin, Sagamu, and Odofin of Remoland.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, known as YAYI, attended, according to the broadcaster’s account. Other traditional rulers were also present at the installation. Ogunsanya’s new honour adds to his existing responsibilities within the traditional institutions of Ikorodu division.
The installation had been scheduled for 22 October in advance reporting by The Impact newspaper. Its report identified Ogunsanya as MultiChoice Nigeria’s chairman and described his involvement in educational and community projects in Ikorodu. The ceremony brings together his established ties to Ikorodu and a new title conferred in neighbouring Ogun State.
Ogunsanya is chairman of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited, whose published executive council also includes vice-chairman Kaoli Olusanya Olatunji and executive secretary Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru. The organisation describes its purpose as supporting security arrangements and promoting peaceful coexistence, commerce and community development across the division.
Its stated objectives include providing logistical and operational support to security bodies, creating opportunities for young people and partnering with public agencies and private organisations. The initiative organises its local security structure around six zones covering Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu West, Igbogbo/Baiyeku, Ijede, Imota and Ikorodu North.
Education is another part of that work. In an account published on 20 February 2026, the initiative reported presenting scholarships and bursaries to more than 200 students at N.S. Sho Event Hall in Imota. It described the presentation as its fourth annual awards programme.
The organisation said 31 scholars received ₦200,000 each, with continuing support dependent on maintaining first-class performance. Another 122 students received ₦100,000 each under Bursary I, while 83 received ₦50,000 each under Bursary II. It distinguished the continuing scholarship arrangement from the two bursary schemes, which it described as one-off awards.
The initiative has also proposed a university for Ikorodu. Speaking at its fifth scholarship and bursary presentation, Ogunsanya said work on that plan had been suspended because of what he described as political issues. The Impact reported his remarks on 20 September. He did not explain those issues, but said the group still intended to establish the institution on land secured in Imota.
Ogunsanya’s professional background is in commercial legal practice. His firm, Ogunsanya and Ogunsanya, identifies him as its lead partner and head of litigation, with work spanning real estate, intellectual property, insurance, and oil and gas. He joined the practice in 1986.
According to the firm’s biography, he obtained his law degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1984 and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. He completed a master’s degree in law at the University of Lagos in 1987 and became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2016. The firm was founded in 1956 by Adeniran and Adebayo Ogunsanya.
