It ends a dramatic turnaround tournament for Moses Aduku’s side. They started Group F with a 2-0 loss to Spain, then a 0-0 draw with China. They revived their campaign with a record 10-1 thrashing of New Caledonia to finish second in the group. Then they beat England 3-0 in the Round of 16 on September 17, with goals from Tosin Rafiu, Janet Akekoromowei and Mary Mamudu, and captain Christiana Uzoma saving a penalty.
Colombia, who beat hosts Poland 1-0 in the Round of 16, will now face the winner of North Korea vs Canada in the semi-final on September 23.
The Falconets were Africa’s last team in the tournament, Ghana, Tanzania and others exited in the group stage.
