Fuji music star K1 D’Ultimate is set to headline London’s Nigeria Independence Party on Thursday, 1 October 2026, as Alexes Promotions Limited brings its annual celebration to Meridian Grand.

The event, organised by Mrs Omobolanle Olatishe and her husband, will run from 6pm until 1am the following morning at the venue on Advent Way, London N18 3AF. It offers Nigerians in Britain and lovers of Nigerian music an opportunity to mark the country’s 66th independence anniversary together.

With K1 at the centre of the programme, the evening places Nigerian music at the heart of the celebration. DJ Mind D. Gap is also listed on the bill, while Abidemi Alaran and Toplotech Entertainment will handle hosting duties.

For Olatishe, known publicly as Bola, the occasion brings together two strands of her working life: entrepreneurship and a passion for promoting Nigerian culture abroad. Her work extends across education, childcare and social care, while entertainment promotion has given her a platform for connecting Nigerian performers with audiences in the United Kingdom.

Behind the concert programme is a promoter whose interest in music grew alongside years of experience in business. In a published interview in 2019, she explained that she had already worked in event planning before staging her first concert. She chose K1 because she had admired his music since childhood, and described her motivation as a love of music and a wish to promote Nigerian culture in the diaspora.

That early K1 concert took place on 19 October 2019 at the Royal Regency in east London. The date establishes that her professional relationship with the performer reaches back several years. Tomorrow’s appearance therefore continues an existing connection between an established Nigerian musician and a promoter building an audience for his work in Britain.

Olatishe’s wider business experience helps explain the breadth of her activities. In a 2020 interview, she described childcare as her principal UK business and discussed her move into the sector after further training. She also spoke about expanding into event facilities and property, alongside school and agricultural investments in Nigeria.

She credited her husband’s support as an important part of that expansion and described planning their Nigerian investments together. Her account presents a family business story in which professional experience, shared planning and a willingness to enter new fields have supported growth across both countries.

Olatishe is also known as the Iyalaje of Aramoko-Ekiti. A 2023 profile highlighted her promotion of Afrobeats, juju and fuji, reflecting a cultural programme that extends beyond a single musical style. Her work gives Nigerian audiences abroad access to sounds associated with home while introducing those traditions to listeners from other backgrounds.

Earlier promotional material confirms that the Independence celebration has been staged before. A 2024 flyer advertised K1 D’Ultimate at the City Pavilion in Romford, with 9ice also featured. The earlier celebration forms part of Alexes Promotions’ continuing programme of Nigerian cultural events in the UK.

This year’s announcement centres on K1 D’Ultimate at Meridian Grand. The confirmed programme provides a clear focus for the evening: live Nigerian entertainment and a shared Independence Day celebration. The previous 9ice billing forms part of the event’s history and should not be confused with tomorrow’s advertised line-up.

For Nigerians living outside the country, Independence Day can also be a moment to renew personal and cultural ties. A concert creates a setting where the anniversary is experienced through familiar music and company, alongside the formal significance of the date.

The organisers’ flyer lists standard admission at £60, regular tickets at £100, VIP at £200 and VVIP at £300. The Shoobs booking page currently displays prices from £67.50 to £337.50. Readers should check the final booking total and ticket conditions before purchasing.

With preparations moving towards Thursday evening, Alexes Promotions’ latest celebration puts a Nigerian cultural occasion firmly on London’s entertainment calendar. It also brings renewed attention to the woman behind the promotion, whose work in care, education and enterprise sits alongside her commitment to taking Nigerian music to UK audiences.
