Borr Drilling shares fell in Oslo on Monday, 26 October, following the sinking of its Prospector 5 rig offshore Gabon.
The shares were down 7 per cent at 08:30 GMT after falling as much as 11.4 per cent earlier in the session, Reuters reported. Shares in Dussafu partners BW Energy and Panoro Energy also fell in early trading.
The loss has removed a rig contracted for almost another year from service and threatens BW Energy’s plans for additional oil production early next year, according to the report.
In an update on Monday, Borr said 110 of the 115 people aboard were safe and accounted for. It continued to list five people as unaccounted for, with marine and air searches underway.
The company said those accounted for were being brought ashore in Gabon and receiving care and support. Its emergency response team was working with local authorities and its customer.
Borr said it was in contact with the missing personnel’s families. It also said an investigation into the cause would be carried out with partners and authorities, while the search remained its immediate priority.
The rig sank during preparations for a drilling campaign on Saturday, 24 October. Borr’s preliminary account identified a punch-through during preload activities, followed by loss of stability.
The company’s Monday update did not revise its official missing-person total. Reuters has separately reported one death and four people missing, citing sources. Those accounts remain distinct.
