Airtel Africa has announced plans for the initial public offering and listing of its mobile money business, Airtel Money, on the London Stock Exchange.
In a filing dated September 23, 2026, Airtel Africa said Airtel Mobile Commerce N.V., the company behind Airtel Money, intends to launch an IPO and seek admission to the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange.
The proposed IPO will comprise a secondary offering of existing shares by current shareholders. The business will raise no new capital from the listing.
Airtel Africa currently owns about 77.85 percent of Airtel Money and expects to remain a long-term strategic shareholder following the listing. The group said it will support Airtel Money’s next phase of development as an independently listed business.
According to the Financial Times, Airtel Money is targeting a valuation of $8 billion to $9 billion and existing shareholders are seeking to raise at least $800 million through the flotation, which would make it one of London’s largest IPOs in recent years.
Airtel Money CEO Ian Ferrao said the listing will underpin the company’s next wave of growth. The business operates in 13 African markets with about 53 million monthly active users as of June 2026 and processed $213 billion in transaction value in the 12 months to June 2026.
The indicative price range and offer size are expected to be disclosed in a prospectus due early next month, with final pricing targeted for mid-October.
The company had originally planned the IPO for the first half of 2026 but delayed it in May, citing market conditions following geopolitical developments.
