Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has refuted Naira Marley’s claim of innocence regarding allegations of harassment against his son while alive.
In a recent interview, Aloba stated that he received reports from people close to Naira Marley that the Marlian Music boss physically abused Mohbad. He also said that he personally witnessed some of these incidents, though he did not elaborate on the details.
This account contradicts Naira Marley’s earlier viral video where he insisted he only tried to help Mohbad and denied any involvement in his harassment or death.
Aloba recounted, “I went to see Naira Marley over some of the things Mohbad had said, and that was all.
But later, I personally witnessed other incidents. There were about three people present at the time—two are still alive today. One of them, who worked with Naira Marley, once came to report to me that Marley was beating Mohbad.”
He added that when they went to Naira Marley to apologize, Marley did not show respect. Aloba emphasized that people misunderstood his intentions, clarifying that his concern went beyond financial matters.
Addressing Naira Marley’s claim that Mohbad’s earnings were received through accounts linked to his mother-in-law, Aloba supported that part of the story. He said that Naira Marley had expressed worries about Mohbad receiving payments through an account that was not his and acknowledged noticing money sent to him from an unusual account.
Aloba explained, “Naira Marley complained to me that he (Mohbad) was collecting money with an account that was not his. I also noticed he sent me money from a strange account, and I warned him that anything he wanted to give me should come from his personal account. That’s all I know about the account matter.”
The controversy continues as the late singer’s father’s testimony appears to reaffirm allegations of bullying by Naira Marley during Mohbad’s lifetime.
