Two women in an outdoor scene from the musical drama Which Way, in a production still carried by Punch.

Which Way, a Lagos-set musical drama directed by Jide Okeke, is scheduled to make its African premiere at the Africa International Film Festival on Tuesday, 3 November, bringing a story of family conflict and unresolved trauma to the festival’s feature programme.

The production team’s screening announcement, reported by Punch and TheCable, gives the venue as Filmhouse Cinemas, Landmark, Victoria Island, Lagos, with a start time of 8pm. Cast members are expected to take part in a question-and-answer session afterwards.

AFRIFF’s official selection confirms the film’s inclusion among its features. The festival lists it as a 2026 Nigeria and United Kingdom production, running for 113 minutes, with English as its language and drama and musical as its genres.

The film follows Ladi, a mechanic whose past threatens the stability of his family. According to the festival synopsis, the emotions he struggles to express emerge through music as those around him confront the consequences of his trauma.

Floyd Igbo plays Ladi, while Chidinma Nebo portrays his wife, Beatrice. Onome Akpotebu appears as his sister, Shewa. The ensemble also includes Chimezie Imo, Stan Nze, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Yemi Blaq, Tosin Sido and Olayiwola Razaq.

The production’s announced approach places live singing within the dramatic performances. Rather than treating the songs only as recordings added separately, the filmmakers asked performers to combine their acting and vocal work during filming.

Okeke said the casting process therefore required actors who could sustain both parts of the performance. His comments described the ability to move between a scene and a song as central to selecting the ensemble.

In remarks carried by Punch, the director said the cast committed fully to the process and that some moments captured on screen could not be reproduced in exactly the same way. The production team presented that immediacy as a distinctive feature of the film.

Which Way was produced by Jumafor Ajogwu under Bold Pictures. AFRIFF’s official credits also name Ayo Alade as a producer. TheCable identifies Afribold Pictures Network and Future 6 Media among the companies presenting the production.

The production announcement credits the screenplay to Temi Mattu and Okeke. Within the supporting ensemble, Imo plays Catcher, Nze appears as Emmanuel, Agu plays Aunty Joy and Blaq takes the role of Papa Ladi. Razaq appears as Prophet.

The premiere is part of AFRIFF’s 15th edition, scheduled for 1 to 7 November in Lagos. The official selection lists 105 films across eight categories, covering features, shorts and other strands of the programme.

Olive Nwosu’s Lady is listed as the opening film. Other selected features include Abeni, directed by Esse Akwawa and Samuel Olasehinde, alongside productions from elsewhere in Africa and beyond.

AFRIFF’s individual Which Way page confirms selection but still directs readers to the festival schedule for screening dates and venues. The 3 November time and location come from the production’s premiere announcement rather than a completed screening report.

Festival-goers can consult the official selection and ticket pages for the latest screening arrangements. The announced question-and-answer session with members of the cast is scheduled to follow the film at the Lagos screening.
