Manchester United have tabled an increased offer exceeding £60 million for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo.
Manchester United’s bid of £45 million plus £10 million in potential add-ons for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has been turned down. Talks for the 25-year-old Cameroon international are expected to continue this week, as he remains a top target to become the club’s second signing of the summer.
After sealing a £62.5 million deal for Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United are focused on further bolstering Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of their return to pre-season training on July 7.
Tottenham’s new manager Thomas Frank had also shown strong interest in reuniting with Mbeumo, while other Champions League clubs are monitoring his situation. Brentford are understood to be holding out for a fee similar to what Wolves received for Cunha, with Mbeumo still under contract for another year.
Mbeumo enjoyed a standout season with Brentford, recording a personal-best 20 goals and providing nine assists. His proven Premier League experience is a major attraction for United, who are aiming for a much stronger start to the new season following three slow openers under Erik ten Hag.
The Cameroon international, a teammate of United goalkeeper Andre Onana, is expected to miss around four weeks of the 2025–26 season due to the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Cameroon open their group stage campaign against Gabon on December 24.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho’s future at United has been thrown into fresh doubt after he shared a social media image of himself in an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on it. Rashford responded to the post, calling Garnacho “my brother.” Garnacho, who has been told to find a new club, is currently valued at £60 million.
