Paul Pogba was visibly emotional on Saturday as he signed a two-year contract with AS Monaco, marking the end of his long exile from football. The 32-year-old French midfielder had been without a club since Juventus terminated his contract last year following a doping ban.
In August 2023, Pogba was handed a four-year suspension after testing positive for a banned substance, but the ban was reduced to 18 months last October. His suspension officially ended earlier this year, but his contract with Juventus was mutually terminated before that.
Pogba’s last match was in September 2023, and now, with Monaco offering him a fresh start, he is ready to reignite his career in Ligue 1. The video of the signing shows Pogba resting his head on his arm, fighting back tears before signing the contract. After putting pen to paper, he lowered his head again, visibly emotional, and was comforted by one of his representatives and AS Monaco’s sporting director Thiago Scuro.
