Funke Akindele has announced a London premiere for her forthcoming film, The Four: No One Fights Alone, at ODEON Luxe Leicester Square on 29 November 2026, ahead of its planned Nigerian cinema release on 11 December. The filmmaker described the screening as a historic first for a Nollywood production at the central London venue.
Akindele disclosed the premiere arrangements in a social media announcement on Monday, 2 November. She said members of the cast would occupy the cinema’s Royal Booth, referring to its association with high-profile film premieres. Her claim that The Four would be the first Nollywood title to premiere at the venue has been reported by TVC News, although an independently verified record of all previous premieres at the cinema was not available.
The planned event gives the production a prominent London platform before its December theatrical run. ODEON Luxe Leicester Square is a recognised West End cinema venue, and the choice of location places the Nigerian production within a part of the capital closely associated with international film publicity and red-carpet screenings.
The Four is produced by Funke Akindele Network and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment. Its announced cinema opening is 11 December, with the London event scheduled nearly two weeks earlier. The production team has previously promoted the film as an ensemble drama about friendship, motherhood and the lengths to which four women will go to protect someone close to them.
According to the film’s published synopsis, the story follows Esosa and three women who leave their community for the city as they struggle to secure the future of a young man they love. Their journey tests their loyalty and relationships. The story moves between the fictional Odu community and an urban setting, bringing together personal conflict and wider social pressures.
Akindele leads the cast alongside Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha and singer Waje. Other announced performers include Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan and Wunmi Toriola. The production also features Afrobeats musician Shoday and other entertainment personalities.
The film’s publicity has highlighted Nigerian fashion, music and language as part of its visual identity. Adire textiles feature in the styling, while an original soundtrack brings music into the narrative. Earlier promotional photographs showed the leading women in coordinated Adire-inspired outfits, reflecting the production’s stated intention to incorporate familiar cultural elements into its storytelling.
In September, the production released first-look images and a music video for Oremi, featuring Akindele, Aiyeola, Akpotha and Waje. A teaser followed in late October as the publicity campaign gathered pace ahead of the December release. The newly announced Leicester Square date adds a specific London event to that campaign.
Akindele’s recent films have attracted substantial attention to Nollywood’s commercial performance. Her previous productions include Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind The Scenes. The Four is her latest attempt to reach cinema audiences at home while building interest among Nigerians and other filmgoers overseas.
The announcement also reflects the importance of the British Nigerian audience to the promotion of Nigerian films. London has long been a destination for Nollywood premieres and screenings, with filmmakers using events in the city to connect with diaspora audiences, distributors and entertainment media. A premiere at Leicester Square offers visibility, but its wider commercial impact will depend on the film’s release arrangements and audience response.
Details of ticket availability, the complete guest list and any additional United Kingdom cinema screenings were not independently confirmed at the time of writing. The announced dates remain 29 November for the London premiere and 11 December for the film’s Nigerian theatrical opening.
