Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau in Group L of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The draw was conducted on Tuesday at the Egyptian Football Association headquarters in Cairo.

The three-time African champions enter the group as top seeds alongside Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau. Tanzania are one of the co-hosts for the 2027 tournament alongside Kenya and Uganda, so they are guaranteed a place at the finals regardless of their group finish. That means only one other team from Group L will qualify.

All three opponents are familiar to Nigeria. The Super Eagles met Guinea-Bissau in the group stage of the 2021 AFCON and again in qualifiers and the 2023 edition. They beat Tanzania 2-1 in the opening game of the 2025 AFCON, while Madagascar stunned Nigeria 2-0 in the group phase of the 2019 tournament.

Qualifiers will be played across three FIFA windows between September 2026 and March 2027. Matchdays 1 and 2 run from September 21 to October 6, 2026, matchdays 3 and 4 from November 9 to 17, 2026, and the final two rounds from March 22 to 30, 2027.

The 2027 AFCON finals will be held from June 19 to July 17 across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda — the first time three nations will jointly host the tournament.
