Trailer traveling along Bauchi Road in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State crashed into a residential building after its front tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle, which was en route to Bauchi, veered off the road and slammed into the house, injuring three people including the driver.
Eyewitnesses reported that rescuers took nearly an hour to free the victims from the wreckage. The injured were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The driver was reported to be badly hurt.
Peter Yakubu Longsang, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Plateau State, confirmed the incident and stated that the trailer has since been removed from the scene. Normal traffic flow has resumed along the busy Bauchi Road.
This accident adds to a series of recent road incidents on the Jos-Bauchi highway, a route known for frequent crashes often caused by vehicle malfunctions such as tyre bursts and brake failures. Previous accidents on this highway have resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, underscoring ongoing concerns about road safety and vehicle maintenance in the region.
Authorities continue to urge motorists to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent such accidents. The FRSC has also emphasized the importance of regular vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and safeguard lives.
