Oba Adetona, who ascended the throne on April 2, 1960, reigned for 65 historic years as the paramount ruler and custodian of Ijebu traditions.

“His passing marks the end of an extraordinary era in which he transformed Ijebuland into a thriving economic and cultural center while serving as a respected voice in national affairs.”

His commitment to education, community development and cultural preservation leaves an indelible legacy.”

The Ogun State Government, in consultation with the Ijebu Traditional Council, will release details regarding burial arrangements in due course. Governor Dapo Abiodun has declared seven days of official mourning across the state, with flags to fly at half-mast.

“We invite all citizens to join in honoring the memory of this exceptional leader whose wisdom and dedication to service profoundly impacted generations. May his soul find eternal rest.”
