Funke Akindele has announced a partnership with Facebook for her forthcoming film, The Four: No One Fights Alone, with the collaboration supporting premieres in London and Lagos and online content around the release.

The filmmaker disclosed the agreement on Thursday, 29 October, as preparations continued for the drama’s scheduled cinema opening on 11 December. The film is produced by Funke Akindele Network and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment.

Facebook’s involvement centres on the film’s world premiere in London and its Lagos homecoming premiere. Meta, the platform’s parent company, said the collaboration would highlight Nigerian storytelling and the creators connecting with audiences in Nigeria and the diaspora.

Oluwasola Obagbemi, Meta’s Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa, said the partnership would demonstrate how creators build communities and reach audiences through the platform. The company also described opportunities for creators to earn from original content.

The premiere activities are expected to include a creator-hosted space where participants will produce social content about Nigerian stories and culture. The stated aim is to connect creators with younger audiences and extend engagement beyond those attending the events.

In her announcement, Akindele thanked followers for supporting her stories and said she would share preparations, premiere outfits and behind-the-scenes moments. She directed audiences to her Funke Akindele, Official Funke Akindele and FAANTV Facebook pages.

“We’re taking THE FOUR to the world, and Facebook is coming with us,” she wrote.

Meta Africa’s Facebook page is also among the channels identified for content from the two premieres. The partnership concerns promotion and audience engagement; FilmOne remains the distributor identified in the film’s release announcement.

The Four follows Esosa and three women closely connected to her as they confront challenges surrounding the future of a young man they love. The production’s announced storyline moves between the Odu community and the city.

The drama examines friendship, motherhood, resilience and relationships between women. First-look material released in September presented an ensemble production incorporating Nigerian fashion and music, with Adire prominent in the characters’ clothing.

The cast includes Akindele, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji and Ali Nuhu. Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan, Uzor Arukwe and Wunmi Toriola also feature.

Singer Waje and Afrobeats performer Shoday are among the additional participants identified in the production announcement, alongside Samuel Banks, Kolapo Omotoso and Ayomide Iwasokun. An original song forms part of the film’s narrative.

The project follows Akindele’s earlier cinema releases, including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind the Scenes. The Facebook announcement adds a promotional partnership to the existing release plans.

The company said the collaboration would spotlight Nigerian creators at home and abroad, using the London and Lagos events to bring performers, online creators and film audiences together.

The published announcements do not disclose the financial value of the Facebook agreement or describe it as a sale of the film’s rights. Its stated scope is the premieres and associated creator content.

The Four: No One Fights Alone remains scheduled for cinema release on 11 December 2026.
