The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued an official disclaimer denying the registration of 247 companies falsely listed as incorporated entities.

In a public notice released through its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, the regulatory body confirmed it has purged these fraudulent entries from its database and invalidated their purported Certificate of Incorporation numbers.

The Commission clarified that none of the AC registration numbers attributed to these organizations were legitimately assigned, rendering all claims of their corporate existence null and void. This development follows the CAC’s ongoing audit of its registration system to eliminate ghost companies often used for illicit financial activities.

“These entities have no legal standing as incorporated businesses in Nigeria,” the statement read, urging stakeholders to verify company credentials through CAC’s official channels before transactions.

The crackdown aligns with the Commission’s mandate to sanitize Nigeria’s corporate registry and combat business registration fraud.
