The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in Anambra and Imo states topped the list of centres caught engaging in fingerprinting malpractices during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Nationwide, 19 centres were implicated, with Anambra accounting for six, Imo four, and other states including Abia, Edo, Kano, Ebonyi, Delta, Kaduna, Rivers, and Enugu having one or two centres each.
JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede also disclosed that impersonators used albinos to manipulate exam images and facilitate remote uploads.
In a related development, two individuals, Bolanwu Emmanuel and Ibrahim Abdulaziz, were arraigned before the Federal High Court in Katsina for alleged impersonation and examination malpractice.
Emmanuel allegedly invited Abdulaziz to impersonate him during the UTME at Zee Alpha International School, Funtua, on April 30, 2025.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor requested time to present witnesses, and the trial was adjourned to July 18, 2025. The case highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s examination system.
