The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged fake Director-General of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Adeyemi was arraigned on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation. The charges were initially filed by the Nigeria Police Force in November 2025, alleging that he conspired with two other suspects, who are currently at large, to forge presidential appointment letters, State House documents, and other official correspondences linked to the fictitious agency.
The case, which was taken over by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, came up before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar, where the defendant pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court that Adeyemi, by his plea, had joined issues and put himself up for trial. He urged the court to remand the defendant in custody pending trial, citing his conduct prior to his arrest.
Defence counsel, Genesis Francis, however, informed the court of a pending bail application filed on behalf of his client.
In his ruling, Justice Umar adjourned the matter to October 12, 2026, for hearing of the bail application and commencement of trial. He ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The court had earlier ordered Adeyemi’s arrest after he failed to appear for his arraignment on the last adjourned date. He was apprehended less than 24 hours later.
