Veteran Nollywood actress Tina Mba has cautioned women, especially those in the entertainment industry, against abandoning their careers for marriage.

Speaking in a recent interview, the respected actress addressed the societal pressure that often pushes married women to give up their professional ambitions.

“He met you as an actor, he married you as an actor,” Mba stated firmly. “There was no issue of you leaving this job because I’m insecure or because we need to raise children.”

The actress emphasized that warning signs usually appear early in relationships. She advised women to be observant and have crucial conversations with their partners before marriage.

“The signs are always there. Don’t ignore them,” Mba warned. “You need to have a discussion with the person. If need be, you should sign an undertaking that you won’t be made to leave your career. After all, did he leave his job?”

Mba, known for her strong screen presence and outspoken nature, encouraged women to value themselves and their careers as much as their marital aspirations.

“Marriage is important, but nobody put a gun to my head or to your head to do it,” she said. “There are so many people in this world. If this doesn’t work, another may work.”

The actress concluded with empowering advice: “You will meet a soulmate, someone who will be supportive. Just be true to yourself. Don’t go for the dazzles, be an antique babe like me.”

Mba’s comments have sparked conversations online about balancing career ambitions with marital expectations in modern relationships.
