Popular Nigerian Afrobeats artist Orezi has broken his silence on why he stepped back from the music scene in recent years. In a candid interview on Hip TV’s Trending program, the “Ogede” hitmaker revealed that a decline in ambition and a preference for comfort led to his slowdown and eventual fade from the spotlight.

“I faded out because I became less ambitious and comfortable with where I am. I was always on vacation, enjoying myself. That fire, that ambition-it just wasn’t there anymore. Once you step out of the race, it’s hard to keep up,” Orezi admitted.

He emphasized the importance of competition and consistency in sustaining a successful music career, contrasting his experience with that of fellow Afrobeats superstar Davido. Despite already achieving global fame and wealth, Davido continues to hustle like an up-and-coming artist, a quality Orezi credits for his ongoing success.

“Look at Davido-he’s already on top, but he still grinds like an up-and-comer. That hustle keeps him consistent. That’s the difference,” Orezi explained.

His openness sheds light on the emotional and mental challenges behind fame, highlighting that talent alone is not enough to maintain relevance in the fast-paced music industry. Fans are hopeful that Orezi’s revelation signals a potential comeback as he reflects on the need to reignite his passion and drive.
