Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has finalized his permanent transfer to Turkish champions Galatasaray in a blockbuster €75 million deal from Napoli, the club announced on Thursday.
The 26-year-old Nigerian international, who enjoyed a sensational loan spell last season with 37 goals and 8 assists in 41 appearances, signed a four-year contract that makes him one of the highest-paid African players in Europe. Galatasaray confirmed the deal includes a €15 million annual salary, €1 million loyalty bonus, and €5 million in image rights.
“An agreement has been reached with SSC Napoli for the transfer of Victor James Osimhen for a net fee of €75 million,” the club stated on social media, adding that Napoli will receive 10% of any future transfer profit. The contract reportedly includes a two-year restriction from joining Serie A clubs.
Osimhen expressed his delight at returning permanently: “I’m so proud to be here. You know my quality from last season… We’ll give our all in the Champions League, one of our main goals,” he told Galatasaray’s website.
The transfer concludes a turbulent two-year saga with Napoli, where the 2023 African Player of the Year had been frozen out of the squad before his loan move. His departure marks one of the most expensive transfers in Turkish football history.
