A University of Lagos (UNILAG) student, Oluwakemisola Emmanuel, has successfully graduated with a B.Sc. in Mass Communication, after previously seeking public support to fund her education.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday, Oluwakemisola shared her inspiring journey from financial struggles during her undergraduate years to celebrating her academic achievement. She uploaded photos from her early days at UNILAG and her final year, reflecting on the difficult times when she had to appeal for assistance to pay her tuition fees.
“Officially a B.Sc. Mass Communication graduate from the University of Lagos! What started in December 2017 has finally come to a beautiful end today. I’m deeply grateful to God for guiding me through this journey and to everyone who supported me financially along the way,” she wrote in her post.
Oluwakemisola’s story highlights the power of community support, as contributions from well-wishers helped her overcome financial barriers to complete her studies.
Her graduation coincides with UNILAG’s 55th convocation ceremony, where the institution conferred degrees and diplomas on 16,590 students. Among these, 18 female students from the Mass Communication Department were recognized for earning first-class honors, an unprecedented achievement in the department’s history.
