
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has achieved a major milestone as her latest movie, Alakada: Bad and Boujee, grossed ₦500 million at the Nigerian box office.
The achievement was announced on Tuesday, March 19, 2025, by FilmOne Entertainment, the distribution company behind the film. The success cements Alakada: Bad and Boujee as the fifth highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time.
Celebrating the feat, Abraham expressed her gratitude to fans and collaborators in an Instagram post on Friday. “Grateful for every step of this journey! From day one, I’ve always pushed myself to surpass my last achievement…,” she wrote.
Before Alakada: Bad and Boujee, the fifth position was previously held by Queen Lateefah, a film by Wunmi Toriola, which grossed ₦269.5 million.
The current top five highest-grossing Nollywood films are:
1. Everybody Loves Jenifa (2024) — ₦1.88 billion
2. A Tribe Called Judah (2023) — ₦1.4 billion
3. Battle on Buka Street (2022) — ₦668.4 million
4. Omo Ghetto: The Saga (2020) — ₦636.1 million
5. Alakada: Bad and Boujee (2024) — ₦500 million
Directed by Adebayo Tijani and written by Toyin Abraham, the film is the latest installment in the Alakada series. Its impressive box office performance highlights the growing commercial success of Nollywood films both locally and internationally.
