President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). He will succeed Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose second and final tenure is set to expire on July 31, 2026.

The appointment was announced on Thursday by the Presidency.

Professor Aina, 39, is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He will become JAMB’s youngest registrar upon assuming office in July, just ahead of his 40th birthday.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, and both an MSc in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. He is also an alumnus of the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

Aina began his career at JAMB during his National Youth Service, where he gained early experience in national admissions processes and data-driven institutional systems. With over 15 years of post-graduation experience, he works at the intersection of technology, policy, and institutional reform, advising federal and state governments on system design, digital transition, and operational efficiency.

He has also served as a consultant to the National Examinations Council (NECO), the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), and several state ministries of education, focusing on ICT systems, examination integrity, and digital process optimization.

The Presidency described Aina as a distinguished academic and systems expert with extensive experience in national examination systems, digital infrastructure, and public-sector reform.
