Nigeria international Shukurat Oladipo has been named Best Defender of the 2025/26 Serie A Femminile season following an outstanding campaign with AS Roma Women.
The 21-year-old received the award at a gala ceremony on Monday night after helping Roma secure their third league title in four years.
Oladipo made 18 league appearances and was a key figure in Roma’s defense, which conceded only nine goals and kept eight clean sheets in matches she played. The team remained unbeaten whenever she was on the pitch.
Her performances also earned her a place in the Serie A Femminile Team of the Season alongside teammates Manuela Giugliano, Giada Greggi, and Giulia Dragoni.
The Lagos-born defender joined Roma from Nigeria’s FC Robo Queens in February 2025 and quickly established herself as one of the club’s most reliable players. Across all competitions, she made 30 appearances and recorded 27 interceptions, 27 tackles, 70 clearances, and 104 recoveries in the league. Oladipo was also part of the Super Falcons squad that won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Roma will now rely on her defensive strength again when they face Juventus Women in the Coppa Italia final on May 24, with a chance to complete a domestic double.
