President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. The budget presentation will take place in the House of Representatives chamber, with tight security measures in place.

The proposed budget is estimated at N54.4 trillion, based on the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper. This significant budget highlights the government’s priorities for the upcoming year.

Key allocations include substantial investments in various sectors. Statutory Transfers are set at N1.74 trillion, while Debt Service is projected at N8.27 trillion. The government also plans to allocate N11.27 trillion for Recurrent Non-Debt Expenditure and a significant N22.28 trillion for Capital Projects.

The budget presentation marks the formal submission of the federal government’s fiscal proposals to the legislature for scrutiny and approval. Lawmakers have been directed to arrive early, with access to the National Assembly complex restricted from 11:00 a.m. The event is expected to draw significant attention from lawmakers, government officials, and other stakeholders.
