Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has reiterated his commitment to the pursuit of an independent Yoruba Nation, declaring that there will be no retreat in the quest for self-determination for the Yoruba people in 2025.
In a New Year message delivered through his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, Igboho urged Yoruba people at home and abroad to unite in the effort to achieve sovereignty for the South-West region and the larger Yoruba ethnic group.
“Our watchword remains ‘No going back.’ This is the time for unity, courage, and focus. We are resolute in our mission, and we call on all Yoruba sons and daughters to be prepared for what lies ahead,” Igboho stated.
He emphasized the importance of peaceful rallies and protests to amplify their demands for self-determination while urging Yoruba people not to be deterred by challenges.
“This is not the time for hesitation. We must sit up, organise, and move forward together. The journey may be challenging, but our destination is clear, and our victory is certain,” he said.
Igboho’s declaration comes amidst a broader conversation about self-determination for ethnic groups in Nigeria. His message also serves as a rallying call for collective action to achieve the vision of Yoruba independence.
