The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has invited former President Olusegun Obasanjo to tour the Port Harcourt Refinery in Rivers State to verify its operational status.

The invitation follows comments made by the former president during an interview with Channels Television, where he questioned the refinery’s capacity after its recent resumption of operations.

In a statement released on Thursday, NNPCL expressed its commitment to transparency and highlighted the significance of Obasanjo’s insights.

“We extend an invitation to our esteemed former president to join us in this historic journey. His wisdom and experience are invaluable, and we deeply appreciate his insights and guidance,” the statement read.

NNPCL also emphasized its achievements in rehabilitating the refinery and underscored its commitment to energy security and national development.

“We warmly invite President Obasanjo to tour the rehabilitated refineries and witness firsthand the progress made under the leadership of NNPC Limited. Together, we can ensure energy security and deliver sustainable value to all Nigerians,” the company stated.

This move by NNPCL comes as the company aims to reassure stakeholders of the refinery’s efficiency and its role in Nigeria’s energy sector transformation.
