A 26-year-old Nigerian national, Ayowale Aledejana, was killed in a stabbing incident at a residential property in New Cross, south-east London on Saturday evening.
Metropolitan Police officers responded to reports of a wounded man at Monson Road around 7:26 pm, discovering Aledejana with multiple stab injuries.
Despite emergency medical intervention from paramedics and London Air Ambulance personnel, the South Norwood resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal attack occurred opposite the former Duke of Albany pub, a location featured in the 2004 horror comedy “Shaun of the Dead.” Forensic teams established an examination tent near the terraced house as floral tributes began accumulating at the site.
Police have detained two suspects—a 23-year-old man and woman—on murder charges, both remaining in custody as investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, leading the case, extended condolences to Aledejana’s family while appealing for public assistance. “We’re conducting urgent inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident,” Card stated, urging potential witnesses to contact authorities via the 101 police non-emergency number referencing case 6271/02AUG.
Specialist officers continue supporting the victim’s bereaved relatives as forensic examinations of the crime scene progress.
