The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on August 25 that 1,379,342 Nigerians completed the online pre-registration process during the first week of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise held from August 18 to 24, 2025.
Lagos and Osun states led nationwide participation. Lagos recorded 222,205 pre-registrations, making up 16.11 percent of the total, while Osun registered the highest percentage at 28.51 percent with 393,269 entries. Ogun state followed with 132,823 pre-registrations (9.63 percent).
In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 107,682 people registered (7.81 percent). Other states with significant pre-registration numbers included Oyo with 66,951 (4.85 percent), Kaduna 61,592 (4.47 percent), and Kogi 58,546 (4.24 percent).
Kwara, Kebbi, and Yobe also showed notable participation, with 33,726, 35,009, and 34,888 registrations respectively.
In the South-South region, Delta state had 24,421 pre-registrations, Rivers 11,314, and Akwa Ibom 12,373. Other states like Cross River, Bayelsa, Edo, and Ondo had lower figures, ranging from roughly 2,800 to 4,600.
The North East region demonstrated strong engagement, with Borno state recording 21,045 pre-registrations, Bauchi 13,066, Gombe 4,103, Taraba 2,395, and Adamawa 2,155. Yobe’s registration of 34,888 stood out prominently in the region.
These figures highlight active voter engagement across Nigeria as the country prepares for upcoming elections.
