The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a change in the commencement date for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), moving it forward by one day to Thursday, April 24, 2025. The examination was initially scheduled to begin on Friday, April 25.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, the board cited “essential commitments by the Board and its partner agencies” as the reason for the adjustment.
“The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is now set to commence on Thursday, April 24, 2025, instead of the previously scheduled date of Friday, April 25, 2025,” the statement read.
With the new date in place, JAMB has directed all registered candidates to print their Examination Notification Slips, which contain crucial details such as the examination venue, date, and time. Candidates can access their slips by visiting the JAMB portal (www.jamb.gov.ng), clicking on “2025 UTME Slip Printing,” entering their registration number, and selecting “Print Examination Slip.”
The board urged candidates to print their slips early and familiarize themselves with their assigned examination centers to avoid last-minute complications.
JAMB also reiterated its strict policy on examination locations, emphasizing that candidates must only appear at their officially designated centers within the towns they selected during registration. The board warned that no candidate would be allowed to take the exam outside their assigned town under any circumstances.
“Please note that candidates will be assigned to centres within their chosen examination towns; no candidate will be placed in a centre outside their selected town,” the statement clarified.
The UTME is a critical examination for students seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria, and JAMB has assured that all necessary measures are in place to ensure a smooth and credible exercise.
Candidates are advised to adhere to the guidelines and prepare adequately for the examination, which is now just days away. Further updates, if any, will be communicated through official JAMB channels.
