Nigerian singer Rema has reflected on how the criticism and trolling he faced early in his career became a driving force behind his rise to international stardom. In a recent video interview shared online, Rema revealed that negative feedback on social media did not deter him but instead motivated him to push forward with his unique sound.
“It is beautiful to see something that people troll and criticise me for. And, you know what? I’m benefiting from that. Imagine if I had stopped or listened to trolls,” Rema said, emphasizing that ignoring the negativity was crucial to his growth.
He added that had he allowed the criticism to get to him, his global achievements might not have been possible. “And four years later, it paid. And more to come,” he continued, highlighting the long-term rewards of perseverance.
Rema also spoke about reaching new markets that many artists had not explored, mentioning his tour in India as a significant milestone and describing it as “a huge deal.”
His remarks have resonated with fans and fellow musicians, serving as a reminder of the importance of resilience and self-belief in the face of online criticism.
