Covenant University has emerged as the highest-ranking Nigerian institution in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, securing a spot in the 801-1000 range globally.
The university, located in Ota, Ogun State, was ranked alongside the University of Ibadan, which also placed in the same global bracket.
The 2024 rankings assessed 1,907 universities across 108 countries based on 18 key performance indicators that measured teaching quality, research environment, research impact, industry connections, and international outlook. The University of Oxford maintained its position as the world’s top university for the eighth consecutive year, followed by Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University, and the University of Cambridge in the top five.
In Nigeria, Covenant University led the list, followed by University of Ibadan, Federal University of Technology Akure, and University of Lagos.
