Chelsea have agreed a seven-year deal with 23-year-old forward Pedro, who is set to travel from Brazil to the United States for his medical before linking up with Enzo Maresca’s squad at the Club World Cup.
Pedro will be eligible to feature in the tournament, with clubs permitted to register players between June 27 and July 3. The versatile attacker is seen as a key addition, capable of operating as a central striker or anywhere across the front line.
Newcastle made an attempt to sign Pedro with a bid of £50 million, but the player was only interested in joining Chelsea. Watford, who previously sold Pedro to Brighton for £35 million in 2023, are set to receive 20 percent of the profit from this transfer.
Chelsea are also close to finalising a deal for Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old winger will sign a seven-year contract following his medical, with the transfer fee agreed at €65 million (£55.5 million).
Gittens, however, will not be eligible to play at the Club World Cup, having already featured for Dortmund earlier in the competition.
