The Benue State House of Assembly has taken a significant step by suspending four of its lawmakers for three months.

The suspension follows allegations that the lawmakers were plotting to impeach the Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh.

Those affected by the suspension are Alfred Berger, Cyril Ekong, Abu Umoru, and Shimawua Terna, representing different constituencies within the state.

In the wake of the suspension, the Assembly announced changes in its leadership structure.

Kennedy Angbo has been named the new Deputy Majority Leader, while Douglas Akya takes on the role of Deputy Chief Whip.

Additionally, Elias Audu has been appointed as the new spokesman of the House, replacing Alfred Berger.

During the same plenary session, the Assembly began the screening process for five commissioner nominees.

Two more nominees, Ogwu Odeh and Imojime Tiza, are scheduled to undergo screening at a later date.

This development marks an important step in the state’s governance process, as the nominees are expected to play key roles in shaping Benue’s future.
