Jeremiah Bledsoe, an 18-year-old African-American student from Fort Worth, Texas, has achieved a remarkable feat by gaining admission to over 40 colleges and universities across the United States, largely due to his dedicated service to the elderly.

Bledsoe’s commitment to community service has earned him several prestigious awards and grants, including the Hershey Heartwarming Hero award, the Power of Youth Award, and recognition from Youth Service of America. For the past decade, Bledsoe has been visiting local nursing homes, providing companionship and donating items to aged residents.

Reflecting on his achievements, Bledsoe explained that his dedication to serving the elderly is inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Health. “The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals help us to identify global issues. I selected SDG 3: Health because we are living during a global pandemic and we cannot leave our elders behind,” he said.

Bledsoe emphasized the importance of community and the impact of his supportive network. “Remember, to help someone else on your journey. I think of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s words, ‘Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?’” he advised high school students.

In addition to his community service, Bledsoe runs a social enterprise, J8 Creative, which offers multimedia and content creation solutions. A portion of the proceeds from J8 Creative supports elderly residents in senior living facilities. He also enjoys participating in student activities and sports.

Expressing gratitude for the support he has received, Bledsoe said, “I want to thank my family, friends, teachers, and coaches for pouring into me. I would not be the person I am today if I did not have them in my life. Special thanks to each of you.”

Jeremiah Bledsoe’s story serves as an inspiring example of how dedication to community service can open doors to numerous opportunities and make a significant impact on society.
