In a recent development under Operation Lake Sanity II, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has achieved significant strides, facilitating the surrender of numerous Boko Haram terrorists while rescuing others from their hideouts.

Chief Military Public Information Officer, HQ MNJTF Ndjamena, Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, highlighted the operation’s success, stating: “In Sector 1 Cameroon, on July 6, a combined maritime operation led to the surrender of 56 Boko Haram terrorists, including 13 men, 43 women, and children. Concurrently, 12 family members were rescued, further weakening Boko Haram’s operational capability.”

He continued, “On July 1, in Sector 4, Niger Republic, Tijjani Muhammad surrendered with weapons, reporting his escape from a Boko Haram camp, driven by Operation Lake Sanity II. The MNJTF urges remaining terrorists to surrender for lasting peace in the Lake Chad basin.”

The operation, conducted between July 1 and 6, 2024, marks a significant advance in regional security efforts against insurgency.
