Finidi George was unveiled on Wednesday as the new head coach of Rivers United, a team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). The unveiling ceremony took place at Rivers United’s secretariat in Port Harcourt.
George, a former winger for Ajax, takes on this role shortly after resigning as the head coach of the Super Eagles. His appointment follows the dismissal of Stanley Eguma, Rivers United’s long-serving coach, towards the end of last season due to poor performance. The club finished a disappointing eighth in the NPFL.
Finidi George brings experience from his previous role in the NPFL, where he coached nine-time champions Enyimba.
