Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has engaged a United States-based lobbying firm in a $1.2 million deal aimed at strengthening his reputation and influence within American policy circles.

The agreement, signed in March 2026, involves a Washington-based firm that will provide lobbying and strategic advisory services over a 12-month period.

Under the arrangement, the firm is expected to facilitate meetings between Atiku and US government officials, including members of Congress, while also offering guidance on policy positioning and engagement strategy.

Part of the contract includes efforts to shape perceptions about his leadership and policy direction, as well as counter narratives within US policymaking circles.

The deal also covers public relations, messaging development, and broader perception management aimed at improving his standing among key stakeholders in the United States.

The move comes amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, with Atiku seen as a potential contender seeking to strengthen international engagement and visibility.
