An Anambra State security agency has rescued two children who were trafficked and sold for N3.5 million, while arresting suspected members of a child trafficking syndicate operating within the state.

The operation was carried out in Onitsha following actionable intelligence that exposed the movement and sale of the children. Security operatives moved swiftly, leading to the successful recovery of the victims and the apprehension of individuals believed to be directly involved in the illegal transaction.

Authorities revealed that the children had been taken from their original homes and sold as part of a coordinated trafficking network. Investigations suggest the syndicate specializes in abducting minors and selling them to willing buyers for profit.

The rescued children have been placed in protective care as efforts intensify to identify and reunite them with their biological families. Officials say medical and psychological support is also being provided to ensure their well-being after the ordeal.

Meanwhile, the suspects are currently in custody and are expected to face prosecution as investigations continue to track down other members of the network. Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on child trafficking and related crimes across the state.
