The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in the Remo Federal Constituency by-election, with INEC declaring Mrs. Adesola Elegbeji as the winner early Sunday morning.
The APC candidate polled 41,237 votes to defeat her closest challenger, Bolarinwa Oluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 14,324 votes.
Professor Kazeem Bello, the Returning Officer, announced the results at the Ikenne collation center after tallying votes from the three local governments in the constituency.
The APC dominated across all areas, securing 10,227 votes in Ikenne, 8,053 in Remo North, and 22,958 in Sagamu.
The PDP trailed with 5,595, 992, and 7,737 votes respectively in the same regions.
The by-election was held following the death of former representative Adewunmi Onanuga on January 15.
Elegbeji, who met all legal requirements, will now assume office as the new House of Representatives member for Remo Federal Constituency.
The outcome reinforces the APC’s stronghold in Ogun State, further consolidating its influence in the South-West region.
