The Republican-led House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has issued subpoenas to former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and several top former Justice Department officials and FBI directors, including James Comey, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Robert Mueller, William Barr, Jeff Sessions, and Alberto Gonzales.

These subpoenas demand their testimony regarding the criminal activities committed by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Additionally, the committee has subpoenaed the U.S. Department of Justice for “full, complete, unredacted” records related to Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking offenses.

The DOJ is required to produce these documents by August 19, 2025.

The subpoenas follow a bipartisan subcommittee vote authorizing the chairman, James Comer (R-Ky.), to compel testimony and records as part of an extensive investigation into Epstein’s network and possible involvement of high-profile individuals.

The inquiry aims to examine the federal government’s enforcement of sex trafficking laws and the handling of Epstein’s case.

In the letter to Bill Clinton, Chairman Comer cites Clinton’s admitted travel on Epstein’s private plane on four occasions in 2002 and 2003 and notes Clinton’s association with Ghislaine Maxwell, including attending a 2014 dinner with her, three years after reports of her involvement in Epstein’s abuses surfaced.

The letter also references conflicting accounts regarding Clinton’s visits to Epstein’s private island, which Clinton denies.

The committee has also issued a subpoena to Maxwell for her deposition, initially scheduled for mid-August but now uncertain.

This unprecedented move intensifies congressional scrutiny over Epstein’s case and the federal government’s response, amidst ongoing public demand for transparency about the full extent of Epstein’s criminal activities and connections to influential figures.

Depositions from the subpoenaed individuals are scheduled to begin in August and continue through October 2025, marking a significant step in the long-running investigation.
