The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the 2025 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, with online pre-registration set to begin on August 18.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, the electoral body disclosed that prospective voters can access the registration portal at cvr.inecnigeria.org starting from the announced date. Physical registration at INEC’s local government offices and designated centers will follow a week later, beginning August 25.
The commission stated that the in-person registration would hold from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and urged eligible Nigerians to participate. “Your votes start with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register,” INEC emphasized.
The announcement comes as part of INEC’s preparations for upcoming elections, with the commission reiterating its warning against underage and multiple registrations. The CVR exercise allows new voters to register and existing ones to update their details or transfer their voting locations.
