Bandits have killed Lami, one of their captives, despite receiving a N10 million ransom payment from her family. The victim had been abducted alongside her husband, Yakubu Dada, on October 31, 2024, along Kontagora Road in Niger State.

The kidnappers, who initially demanded N60 million, reduced their request to N20 million and four Bajaj motorcycles after receiving the first payment. However, they executed Lami on Sunday and have threatened to kill Dada if the additional demands are not met.

Maimuna, Dada’s eldest wife, disclosed that the family had sold their house, cars, and other valuables to raise the initial ransom.

She pleaded with the Niger State government and security agencies to intervene before her husband meets the same fate.

Neighbors confirmed that the family sought public assistance during Friday prayers, but efforts to secure Dada’s release remain unsuccessful. The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, has yet to provide further details on the case.
