Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has extended warm birthday wishes to President Bola Tinubu, expressing admiration for their longstanding political relationship.
In a phone call on Friday, Buhari congratulated Tinubu, praying for his long life, good health, and a successful tenure as Nigeria’s leader. The message was conveyed in a statement issued on Saturday by Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
“When we pray for our leaders, we are praying for ourselves and the nation. We owe this to ourselves and the country,” Buhari was quoted as saying.
The former president acknowledged Tinubu’s critical role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that led to his own election in 2015 after multiple failed attempts. He described Tinubu as an “entrepreneur, party stalwart, staunch activist, party organizer, and a serial winner of democratic elections.”
“I am truly proud of my association with the Asiwaju,” Buhari stated.
Reflecting on APC’s leadership since 2015, Buhari expressed confidence that the party remains committed to laying a strong foundation for national progress. He also wished Tinubu, his family, and the country a successful completion of Ramadan and a joyful Eid celebration.
