The Labour Party (LP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is optimistic about its chances of winning the upcoming council elections. According to the party’s chairman in the FCT, Peter Diugwu, the LP is working hard to emerge victorious in all area councils and wards.

Diugwu expressed his confidence in the party’s chances while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a town hall meeting in Abuja. He emphasized that the LP has a strong presence on the ground and is poised to capture all FCT area councils and wards.

The chairman dismissed concerns about the potential influence of the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, on the election, stating that Wike is from Rivers State and lacks the necessary roots in the FCT to make a significant impact. Diugwu also expressed confidence in the security agencies in the FCT, stating that they are ready to defend their votes.

The town hall meeting was seen as a test of the party’s strength and a way to welcome decampees from other political parties like the PDP, APC, and SDP.

With the FCT council elections fast approaching, the LP is gearing up for a fierce contest, but its leadership is bullish about its prospects.
