A 94-year-old man, Adedapo Idowu, has taken a bold step toward achieving his lifelong dream by registering for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Idowu’s inspiring journey was highlighted in the latest bulletin of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), where he expressed his excitement about finally pursuing tertiary education despite his advanced age.

“I can now attain my dream at an advanced age,” he said.

Commending JAMB for its seamless registration process, he praised the integration of the National Identity Number (NIN), which he believes has helped eliminate discrimination against the elderly, underprivileged individuals, and persons with disabilities.

“The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging through their warm reception at the registration venue,” he added.

Encouraging JAMB to maintain its efficient system, Idowu expressed confidence in his ability to take the examination successfully. He also advised other candidates to embrace professionalism and remain content with their academic journeys.

The 2025 UTME registration began on January 31, with over 700,000 candidates already enrolled, including 11,000 underage applicants, according to JAMB.
