Former Youth and Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung, has made a striking comparison between the cabals surrounding President Bola Tinubu and those in former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. According to Dalung, the powerbrokers around Tinubu are more sophisticated and dangerous than their counterparts during Buhari’s tenure.
Dalung, who served as a minister under Buhari, revealed that Buhari was often a stranger in his own government, as members of the cabal took control of the administration.
However, he noted that the cabals around Buhari were relatively uneducated and inexperienced in politics, governance, and public administration.
In contrast, Dalung described the cabals surrounding Tinubu as “sophisticated and ambitious” individuals with a long history of wielding power. They are educated, experienced, and possess a deep understanding of power dynamics.
This, Dalung warned, makes them more dangerous and capable of manipulating power, building barricades around the president, and controlling access to him.
Dalung’s comments come despite Tinubu’s assertion in July 2024 that he was not answerable to any cabal or moneybag.
The former minister’s concerns highlight the potential risks of a presidency influenced by a powerful and ambitious inner circle.
