
A devastating attack occurred in Katsina State on Saturday, resulting in the death of Alhaji Surajo Amadu Rufa’i, the Acting Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria.
The incident took place at Rufa’i’s residence in Mairana village, Kusada Local Government Area, around 11:30 pm.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspected bandits invaded Rufa’i’s home, shooting him and kidnapping his two wives and daughter, who is an undergraduate.
However, one of the wives was later released. The attack also claimed the lives of two other individuals, while several others were injured.
The police responded promptly to the incident, with operatives led by the DPO Kusada rushing to the scene. Rufa’i was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A gun duel ensued when the police tracked the assailants to Kofa village, forcing the bandits to flee. Unfortunately, two persons were fatally shot during the exchange of fire.
The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects, with the investigation ongoing. The remains of the deceased were buried on Sunday morning according to Islamic rites.
This incident highlights the worsening security situation in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions.
