Nigerian referee Abdulsalam Kasimu Abiola has been chosen by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Abiola is among the 26 referees selected for the biennial tournament, which will take place from February 1 to February 28, 2024, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. In addition, CAF announced 25 assistant referees and 14 VAR and AVAR officials for the competition.

The referees were drawn from different African nations, with Morocco and Togo being the only countries to have two referees represented. Similarly, Morocco and Cameroon had two assistant referees each, while South Africa stood out with two representatives in the VAR and AVAR category.

Abdulsalam Abiola’s selection is a recognition of his expertise and a testament to Nigeria’s contribution to the tournament’s officiating standards. The tournament will showcase Africa’s football talent and highlight the importance of quality officiating in promoting fair play and competitive sportsmanship.
