Activist and social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, has refused to apologise amid ongoing legal action initiated by human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, musician Falz.
The lawsuit stems from allegations of defamation following Otse’s sharing of an unverified audio recording.
In the controversial audio, crossdresser Bobrisky allegedly claimed that the Falanas offered to help secure her a presidential pardon during her sentence for naira abuse, in exchange for ₦10 million. Bobrisky has since denied the recording’s authenticity and threatened to sue Otse for defamation.
The Falana family demanded a public apology and retraction, warning of legal repercussions. However, Verydarkman remains unyielding, asserting that his actions were meant to expose corruption rather than defame anyone.
“They said I defamed them, but for me, it’s corruption I exposed,” Otse stated in a video post. “I don’t see anything wrong with what I did, so I’m not apologising to anybody. If someone’s name is mentioned, they should clear their name.”
Otse, accompanied by his legal representative Deji Adeyanju, is set to appear at the Ikeja High Court for a hearing. He maintains his stance, insisting that his posts highlighted systemic issues in institutions like the EFCC and the judiciary.
